Job Title: Mechanical Assembler – 1st Shift Job Description

The Mechanical Assembler role focuses on building mechanical components, subassemblies, and finished products in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and established quality standards. You use a variety of hand and power tools, along with measuring equipment, to ensure that all products are assembled accurately, safely, and efficiently. This is a full-time 1st shift position, working Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with some overtime likely.

• Assemble mechanical components, subassemblies, and complete systems according to engineering specifications, blueprints, and work instructions.
• Use a wide range of hand tools, including screwdrivers, wrenches, socket sets, pliers, hex keys, and torque wrenches, to perform precise assembly work.
• Operate power tools such as electric screwdrivers, drills, impact drivers, grinders, and other assembly equipment in a safe and effective manner.
• Verify the proper fit, alignment, and functionality of assembled components throughout the build process.
• Inspect finished assemblies to ensure they meet all quality standards and customer requirements.
• Identify, document, and report defective materials, equipment issues, or assembly discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
• Follow all company safety procedures and manufacturing processes to maintain a safe and compliant production environment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper storage and care of tools and materials.
• Collaborate with team members and other departments to meet production schedules, output targets, and quality goals.
• Use basic computer skills as needed to access work instructions, record production data, or complete documentation.
• Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting during assembly to resolve minor issues and ensure smooth production flow.

• Experience in mechanical assembly or manufacturing, preferably in a production environment.
• Proficiency using a variety of hand tools, including screwdrivers, wrenches, socket sets, pliers, hex keys, and torque wrenches.
• Ability to safely operate power tools such as electric screwdrivers, drills, impact drivers, grinders, and related assembly equipment.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how components fit and function together.
• Ability to read and follow blueprints, schematics, and written work instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and a clear commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Basic troubleshooting skills to identify and correct minor assembly issues.
• Ability to frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Comfort working in a production setting with defined processes and quality standards.
• Basic computer skills to navigate instructions, enter data, or complete production-related tasks.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience as a Mechanical Assembler, Electro-Mechanical Assembler, or Electrical Assembler is preferred.
• Familiarity with soldering and working with printed circuit boards (PCBs) is beneficial.
• Experience building assemblies using components such as rivets, screws, and crimped connections.
• Ability to interpret and work from technical documents, including blueprints and schematics.
• Comfort working with both mechanical and basic electro-mechanical components.
• Strong sense of ownership, reliability, and consistency in meeting production goals.

You work in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility organized into well-structured cells that support efficient and safe production. The environment emphasizes orderliness, tool care, and adherence to documented processes. You primarily work on 1st shift from 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some overtime as needed to meet production demands. The role involves regular use of hand and power tools, handling mechanical and electro-mechanical components, and frequently lifting materials up to 50 pounds, all within a setting focused on safety, quality, and comfort.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Northbrook, IL.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
