The Quality Control Technician II plays a key role in ensuring that food products consistently meet internal quality expectations and regulatory food safety standards. This position focuses on routine monitoring, inspections, and data collection across production lines, helping to maintain a safe and compliant operation while supporting continuous improvement in quality assurance and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Perform product temperature checks throughout production to verify compliance with food safety and quality specifications.
• Conduct ATP equipment hygiene checks to confirm proper sanitation and cleanliness of production equipment.
• Inspect equipment for cleanliness and sanitation readiness before and during use.
• Perform Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) inspections on the production floor to ensure adherence to established standards.
• Conduct sanitizer concentration verification to confirm proper dosing and effectiveness.
• Measure pH and salt concentrations to ensure products meet defined quality parameters.
• Perform detailed pre-operational inspections prior to production start-up to verify that all equipment and areas are ready for use.
• Verify water temperatures used in production and sanitation processes to ensure compliance with established requirements.
• Accurately document all inspection and test results in the appropriate systems or logs.
• Report any deviations, non-conformances, or potential food safety risks promptly to quality assurance leadership.
• Support running production lines after inspections are completed and cleared for operation.
• Assist with basic calibration checks related to temperature, weight, and other critical control measurements as needed.
• Follow established quality assurance and quality control procedures and contribute to maintaining a culture of food safety and continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience in the meat industry, with familiarity with production processes and food safety considerations.
• Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and the ability to perform GMP inspections.
• Experience performing temperature checks on products and process equipment in a production environment.
• Ability to conduct weight checks and basic calibration-related activities for production and quality equipment.
• Experience in quality assurance and quality control within a food manufacturing setting.
• Ability to perform and interpret pH readings and salt concentration measurements.
• Proficiency with basic computer skills for data entry, documentation, and reporting of quality results.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy when recording data and identifying deviations.
• Comfort working in both hot and cold environments, including refrigerated and freezer areas.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including early morning or daytime schedules, as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field is helpful and considered an asset.
• Experience in both Quality Control Technician I and II level responsibilities is beneficial.
• Ability to adapt to changing schedules and assignments across different production lines.
• Strong communication skills to effectively report findings and collaborate with quality assurance leadership and production teams.
• Demonstrated reliability and commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and product quality.
• Interest in long-term growth opportunities within a quality and food safety career path.

Work Environment

This role is based in a food manufacturing facility that operates across a range of temperatures, including hot production areas and cold environments such as refrigerated and freezer rooms, with conditions ranging approximately from below 0°F up to around 85°F. The position involves working on and around active production lines, conducting inspections before operations begin, and supporting line runs after equipment and areas are cleared. Standard safety and food manufacturing attire are required, which may include protective clothing suitable for both hot and cold conditions, along with appropriate personal protective equipment. Work schedules are flexible, with typical shifts such as 3:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the ability to adjust as operational needs change. This is a Contract position based out of Carson, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.85 - $24.57/hr.
