Manufacturing Manager

Basalite Building Products, LLC is one of the largest manufacturers of concrete masonry products in the Western United States. Product lines include structural block, interlocking paving stones, engineered wall systems, retaining walls, ornamental and garden products, and a full range of sack goods. SALARY RANGE $110-$120k ANNUALLY ANNUALLY / DOE

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Regional Operations Manager, this position is responsible for managing and overseeing the Air Vol Block Plant including the production, production scheduling, quality control, maintenance, inventory control, personnel management, production analysis, and plant safety for the efficient and safe production of quality products. This position is also responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

• • Ensures the quality of products meets Company standards.
  • Meets regularly with production supervisors and monitors production levels to ensure targets are being met.
  • Supervises and trains plant and office personnel.
  • Organizes production crews and ensures the timely and accurate recording of production paperwork.
  • Ensures that all appropriate environmental regulations are being followed and all necessary reporting is completed.
  • Maintains appropriate stock inventory levels of completed products and raw materials.
  • Establishes yearly manufacturing budget.
  • Establishes yearly product standards.
  • Writes monthly report on production output and associated variances to standards.
  • Identifies cost saving and quality enhancing processes, procedures, equipment and materials.
  • Maintains plant and equipment according to Company specifications for cleanliness and safety.
  • Work with Human Resources to recruit, interview, select, hire and employ using EC-Recruiting module.
  • Responsible for training and/or cross training employees within the department.
  • Responsible for encouraging and motivating employees
  • Responsible for disciplinary actions of employees as needed.
  • Responsible for performance reviews annually on employees in direct reporting structure
  • Responsible for monitoring and approving employee actions in SuccessFactors (HRIS) in a timely manner.
  • Review daily timekeeping records, absence requests and sign off on manager's payroll report every payroll Monday.
  • Make critical hiring and firing decisions
  • Responsible for enforcing Company safety policies.
  • Ensures employees and supervisors follow safe work practices.
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by the company or its designated representatives.
  • Attends safety meeting and abides by all safety rules set forth by Company and governmental regulatory agencies and ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• • High school diploma with 10+ years of Plant/Business leadership equivalent experience required
  • 5+ years' experience in manufacturing/building materials industry preferred
  • BS Degree in Manufacturing, Business, Engineering, or similar technical trade preferred
  • Knowledge of 5s and Lean Manufacturing
  • Requires good accounting, clerical skills, and basic computer knowledge.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, verbal and written, Bi-lingual is preferred.
  • Microsoft word and Microsoft excel
  • Ability to lead diverse team
  • P&L Management and experience in month end close processes required
  • Customer Service and Management experience in block manufacturing, or similar industry preferred
  • SAP experience preferred but not required.
  • Requires good reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required.

• • Plant environment with moderate to loud noise, moving and vibrating machinery, dusty, dirty, fumes and/or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, heat or cold (non-weather) conditions, risk of electrical shock, exposure to dust.
  • Working areas may include elevated working platforms and confined spaces.
  • Wear mandatory and/or other appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
