Registered Nurse (RN) - Night Shift

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering quality care by ensuring that the nursing care plan is followed. This role involves the supervision of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees, while maintaining a strong focus on patient and employee safety.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to form individualized care plans.
• Identify patient teaching needs and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to set goals.
• Document all patient assessments, interventions, and responses in the medical record accurately and promptly.
• Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and educate patients, families, and significant others on health care needs.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient education from the day of admission.
• Communicate relevant patient status changes to support continuity of care.
• Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel, delegating tasks appropriately.
• Ensure personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies.
• Contribute positively to team dynamics and resolve conflicts within the unit.
• Manage supplies and equipment effectively to support cost-effective patient care.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and pursue opportunities for continued education.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current BLS certification required prior to the first shift.
• ACLS certification required prior to the first shift (for specific units).
• Minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience is required.
• PCU/Critical Care experience is highly desired.

Schedule

This position operates on a night shift schedule consisting of three 12-hour shifts.
