UPMC Western Behavioral Health Southside Acute Partial And IOP
UPMC Western Behavioral Health Southside Acute Partial and IOP supports adolescents experiencing acute symptoms of depression and anxiety. Our program supports adolescents in stabilizing their mental health before stepping down to a lower level of care, such as outpatient. A main goal of our program is to assist adolescents in maintaining safety without the need for psychiatric hospitalization. One of the strengths of the program is the treatment team approach and the experience of working in a team to provide a continuation and continuity of care to patients which supports positive patient outcomes.
This position works Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with the expectation to work until 5:30 dependent on department need.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group treatment; complete documentation; offer patient support as needed.
- Deliver direct behavioral health services to children and adolescents, ages 2 - 5 in a therapeutic group milieu setting.
- Support youth experiencing acute or chronic crises to prevent hospitalization or more restrictive placements.
- Use evidence-based treatment methods, crisis/safety interventions, reinforcement strategies, emotional support, structured activities, and (when necessary) passive restraint as part of the treatment plan.
- Work collaboratively within a trans-disciplinary team under supervision of senior staff.
- Develop, assess, facilitate, and monitor individualized or group treatment plans with the team.
- Evaluate and track treatment goals based on assessments and evidence-based practices.
- Participate in creating, implementing, and monitoring behavioral and functional assessments.
- Assist with data management for program evaluation; share findings with clinical team members.
- Monitor and document daily progress notes, data collection, summaries, and graphs for assigned patients.
- Support patient satisfaction efforts among parents, teachers, outside agencies, and children.
- Maintain positive, professional rapport with coworkers, patients, and visitors.
- Provide group intervention in the clinic.
- Help families stabilize the child and encourage age-appropriate behaviors.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in inter-agency meetings when possible.
- Assist parents, teachers, childcare workers, and other professionals with implementing behavior programs designed by BCBAs or clinicians.
- Follow each patient's individualized treatment plan.
- Notify supervisor/team promptly of significant changes in client behavior or circumstances.
- Maintain accurate, timely records of all patient interactions and meetings.
- Protect confidentiality and interact respectfully with children, adolescents, and families.
- Attend mandatory team meetings and staff development trainings.
- Perform duties in alignment with organizational competencies and complete other tasks as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, education, or similar human service-related field. If Bachelor's degree in any other field, must have at least one year of full-time paid work experience in a job that involved direct contact with children or adolescents. One of the following certifications would be preferred but not required; RBT.
