Data Center TechnicianLocation: Barker, NYOnsite Flexibility: OnsiteContract Details:Position Type: ContractContract Duration: 5 months (with potential for extension)Pay Rate: $38.00–$39.00 / Hour (USD)Shift / Schedule: Initial Training (Site Induction) on day shift; 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM; 4×3 day work schedule / 12-hour shifts / non-rotatingContract-to-Hire: Yes — potential to convert to full-time employeeWork Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.Job Summary:As a Data Center Technician, you will perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a Data Center operation. This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function, responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments. The role involves both independent work and team collaboration in an active construction data center environment, monitoring systems and raising awareness of issues — repair work is not required.Key Responsibilities:Assist with daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.Ensure the site's environmental conditions provide a safe work environment.React to Building Management System alarms, and complete emergency repairs as needed.Work with third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations.Alert management if subcontractor performance doesn't meet all requirements per the Master Service Agreement.Complete planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment.Check Client for running and alarm conditions and respond to HVAC-related client problems.Building walkthroughs, taking meter readings from UPS, PDUs, and utilities.Provide fixes to facility and plant faults and defects.Complete assigned work according to established processes and procedures. Follow all safety processes and requirements and ensure all regulatory requirements and quality standards are met. Conduct routine quality checks for comprehensive maintenance records.Complete all required training to ensure successful completion of all job-related responsibilities.Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while having a limited opportunity to exercise discretion.Impact through clearly defined duties, methods, and tasks are described in detail.Deliver own output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.Monitor and raise awareness for issues (repair work is not needed) across the following systems:Chillers and cooling towersPumpsValvesFire protection systemsHeat exchangers and liquid cooling systemsPerform inspections of:Medium- and low-voltage switchgearUPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systemsPower Distribution Units (PDUs)Backup generators and transfer switchesBattery systems and monitoring equipmentMonitor building management systems (BMS) and electrical monitoring systems (EMS).Conduct real-time system checks and log equipment performance.Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations and emergency response activities.Support installation, commissioning, and upgrades of electrical systems.Required Skills:Some knowledge of SCADA, BMS/Client systemsAbility to work under pressure in critical environmentsEffective communicator; able to escalate issues quicklyExperience in a critical environment (required)Ability to work shifts that may include weekends and holidaysAbility to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of workCommunication skills to exchange straightforward informationWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindsetBasic math skills; ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markupsBasic computer skillsGood customer service skillsPreferred Skills:BMS/Client system experienceSafety skills and experienceEducation Requirements:High school diploma or GED required; in lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be consideredTrade school is a plusTraining in a technical discipline having served an apprenticeship or equivalent preferredHVAC or electrician license is a significant plus (none required)Required Experience:3 years of experience in a relevant technical or critical environment role1–2 years of job-related experience (per technical discipline training requirement)Work Environment / Physical Requirements:Active construction data center environmentMust be able to meet the physical requirements of this role24/7 on-call rotations and emergency response activities required12-hour shifts on a 4×3 non-rotating schedule (8:00 PM – 8:00 AM)Safety shoes required for in-person interview (2nd round) and on-site workPre-employment background check (CBRE Safety Specific) with drug screen requiredImportant Notes:Interview process: 1st round virtual with hiring manager; 2nd round in-person with site tour — safety shoes will be required for the in-person round.Benefits:Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans401k Retirement FundAbout the Client:This client is a leading global commercial real estate services and facilities management firm operating across sectors and geographies worldwide, delivering data-driven solutions to a broad portfolio of enterprise clients.
