RN Nursing Supervisor Based on Experience Overview The Nursing Supervisor assumes responsibility and accountability for nursing services delivered to residents. Provides direct care, administers treatments and medications, organizes and distributes daily assignments to direct care staff consistent with each individual resident's comprehensive resident assessment and plan of care. Supervises direct care staff and makes decisions about resident care needs consistent with facility policies and procedures. Ensures that “Flow of Care” is followed. Responsibilities Knowledge of geriatric and general chronic care nursing principles and professional standards of nursing practice and ability to apply to resident specific circumstances. Identify, implement and evaluate appropriate objectives and interventions for residents. Make daily compliance rounds on units at the beginning and end of shifts to observe, examine or interview residents, verify information from ongoing shift reports, monitor regulatory compliance, determine staff assignments, and provide/receive reports. Monitor delivery of care and services to ensure needs are met, tasks are completed, and work of direct care staff is of acceptable quality and quantity. Demonstrate competency in clinical skills needed for the facility resident population. Demonstrate competency in collecting data on physical, behavioral and functional abilities of long term care residents. Knowledge of laws and regulations that influence provision of care and services in nursing facilities. Ability to interpret and demonstrate facility policies and procedures to direct care staff. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to assign, motivate staff, elicit work output, improve quality, and interact effectively with residents, families, interdisciplinary team members, administration, government officials, consultants and others in addition to staff. Carry out all duties in accord with the facility mission and philosophy. Respect the rights, dignity and individuality of each resident in all interactions. Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information. Demonstrate honesty and integrity in the care and use of resident and facility property. Compensation and Benefits Rate: $45-$50 per hour, based on experience.
