AWS DevOps Engineer

Client: US bank


Position title: Devops engineer


Number of openings: 3


Location: Cupertino, CA


Onsite: 3 days a week


Rate: $67.49/hr on w-2


Contract: 6 months extendable


Interview process: 2 video interviews to hire

Project:

• This team owns a data platform that communicates with US Bank's online banking & exposes data like account balances, credit card balances, etc. This is business critical data/functionality, so any changes to the applications/configurations need to be done in a way that can maintain operations and limit disruption to users
• There is an audit of their platform going on that is uncovering some security risks that need to be addressed within the Cassandra DB
• Additionally, they are migrating from on-prem to Azure - planning to have this complete by Q2 of 2026. Also considering migrating to Yugabyte

Responsibilities:

• Developing & automating CI/CD pipelines
  • Ansible & AWX - "operational" automation (updating configurations, executing DB backups, etc.)
  • Jenkins & Terraform - infrastructure provisioning (deployments, provisioning new Cassandra clusters, etc.)
• Observability/monitoring alerts using Prometheus & Grafana

Must Haves:

• Python for pipeline automation
• Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform
• Experience deploying to cloud, ideally to Azure but open to others
• Prometheus & Grafana

What Will Win:

• Experience working within DB (Cassandra would be a huge plus) - ability to create alerts & dashboards for incidents, knowing how to read DB metrics, etc.
• Financial industry experience
