Job Description As our new Electrical Resident Engineer, you will engage in construction‑related projects of varying complexity, applying standard construction techniques, procedures, and criteria to complete a sequence of related construction and engineering tasks. You must be capable of collaborating and making evaluations and interpretations, exercising independent judgment, and selecting and applying standard engineering and construction techniques and procedures to make design adaptations and modifications. Key Responsibilities Utilize engineering or construction management knowledge to analyze the engineering concepts of a project and ensure that the technical components meet the engineering requirements of the contract documents. Oversee construction personnel to ensure construction procedures, methods, and materials follow the contract documents. Direct construction superintendents, project managers, foremen, etc., to comply with contract documents and report non‑conformances. Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, submittals, RFI responses, change management, and other documentation. Assist in coordination and constructability review of design phase submittals. Perform engineering calculations throughout the project to determine requirements such as pump performance, concrete mechanics, pipeline hydraulics, and electrical adequacy. Assist the design engineer in developing conceptual change management modifications and scope. Prepare cash‑flow calculations from a critical‑path schedule and schedule of values for the project owner to budget total project cost. Monitor contractor progress and scheduled completion through daily reporting and digital photo documentation. Review contractor payment request estimates for accuracy. Assist in commissioning activities for equipment and electrical systems. Oversee site‑specific commissioning plans and develop/maintain logs and checklists. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BEng/BSc) or a related discipline. Associate’s degree or technical‑school certification in electrical or another relevant technical curriculum, plus 4+ years of qualifying engineering experience working in the engineering/design field. Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. Effective communication and interpersonal skills; build and maintain collaborative relationships with all stakeholders (client, contractor, design disciplines). General understanding of electrical regulations, standards, and codes. General understanding of electrical systems including generators, power supply/distribution, UPS, MCC, VFD, OIT/HMI, SCADA, PLC, RTU, DCS, LPS, SPD, grounding, instrumentation, communications, and security. Additional skills, certifications, and qualities Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred). Municipal and State Agency experience. CCM, USACE CQM, CCCA, NICET certifications. Required Qualifications Valid driver’s license and availability for up to 100% travel (mostly day trips to sites). Electrical field education and aptitude. The division consists of administration staff, inspectors, resident engineers, and construction management professionals who collaborate to deliver high‑quality construction services based out three main regions – Mid‑Atlantic, Northeast and New York City. Salary Transparency The U.S. pay range for this position is $72,000 – $126,000 annually. Pay varies by location and by job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Travel Expense Reimbursement Travel expenses for ordinary, reasonable, and necessary out‑of‑town expenses, including lodging, meals, and transportation costs, are reimbursed. Business mileage in a personal vehicle that exceeds commuting mileage is reimbursed at the current IRS standard mileage rate. Safety Safety is embedded within Ramboll’s culture.
