Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 9 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 11.5 Experience: Minimum of 2 years RN experience; 2 years telemetry and critical care experience preferred; 1 year travel experience preferred for travel positions. License: NYS RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Epic experience highly preferred Description: The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe and competent quality care. Care is based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and their significant others. Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of a professional practice model. Utilizes the nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards. Assesses and evaluates patient care needs. Applies critical thinking skills in patient care management. Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care. Prioritizes all aspects of patient care including teaching, rounding, and planning after hospital care. Educates patients and caregivers about their plan of care, health promotion, and disease prevention. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, families, and team members. Manages assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing. Demonstrates allocation of material resources effectively. Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care and identifies barriers and opportunities for improvement. Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in the patient population served. Implements process improvement strategies based on evidence and institutional procedures. Engages in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects. Contributes to quality and safety practices and compliance measures. Implements principles of high reliability to maintain a safe environment for patients. Utilizes institutional information technology by documenting nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement initiatives. Performs charge nurse duties as assigned and coordinates to ensure supplies are utilized appropriately. Escalates material or staffing resource deficits when necessary. Documents in an accurate and thorough manner in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements. Facilitates patient throughput on shift basis. Advances clinical competence in nursing practice to progress from novice to expert. Projects a professional image and communicates with caring and respect. Encourages and demonstrates a spirit of scholarship, inquiry, and life-long learning. Participates in shared decision-making through councils and unit initiatives.
