Occupational Therapist

A CWC Occupational Therapist (OT) is an enthusiastic, skilled, and innovative professional who will assess and provide comprehensive occupational services across our Regional and schools. This innovative professional will design therapeutic interventions that celebrate each student’s unique potential while supporting their academic, social-emotional, and functional development. The OT will embrace our constructivist approach, collaborating with our multicultural community to help students become confident, capable citizens of the world. Through creative problem-solving and evidence-based practices, the OT will support students in assessing their educational program while fostering independence, curiosity, and individual responsibility.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and assessments to determine student needs and develop appropriate remediation, instructional plans and strategiesCollaborate with teams to develop and implement IEPs addressing students’ physical and functional needs.Design and implement a variety evidence-based instructional activities aligned with student’s individualized occupational therapy goals/objectivesPerform occupational therapy screeningsFollow and implement treatment plansTrack service delivery in Welligent on a weekly basisImplement and modify treatment plans based on student progress and needsConduct occupational therapy screeningsDocument student progress towards meeting established goals and objectivesConduct formal assessmentsParticipate in IEP meetings of students on assigned caseloadPartner with teachers to ensure that students meet the goals outlined in their IEPsDevelop and conduct training opportunities for classroom staff and parents on the role of occupational therapy, normal sensory motor development, and other topics as requiredMonitor and evaluate equipment and assistive technology needs for studentsMaintain regular communication with families regarding student progress toward IEP goalsCollect and analyze student data to track school performance and student achievement in accordance with communities, navigate sensitive conversation, and develop creative solution that support student success while maintaining focus on mission-aligned outcomeValid California Occupational Therapy License (CBOT) and National Board Certification (NBCOT)Minimum 1 year experience working with students in an educational settingDemonstrated expertise in IEP development, assessment, and goal-writingProficiency with Welligent and other SPED related computer programsExperience working with culturally and linguistically diverse student populations, including English language learners and students with special needsKnowledge of LAUSD procedures and compliance requirements preferredStrong data collection and progress monitoring skillsStrong computer and technology skills, including proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPointFluency in a second language (ideally Spanish or Korean) is preferredManage the ambiguity and multiple priorities inherent in an entrepreneurial
