Auditory Processing Lab_Jr Specialist_Sutter Lab

Position Overview Salary range: $55,000 at Step 1 or $58,600 at Step 2. Position Description Auditory Processing Lab Junior Specialist at UC Davis. The Sutter lab studies the neural basis of sound processing and the influence of attention, decision-making, learning, and visual stimuli on auditory cortex activity. The role involves setting up and using a new array-based recording system, collecting and analyzing neural data from non‑human primate subjects, and contributing to research publications. Obtain required lab training and perform data collection from multiple neurons while subjects perform behavioral tasks. Conduct spike sorting and analyze single‑neuron and population responses to auditory and visual stimuli. Maintain accurate logs of fluid intake, food intake, and health metrics of non‑human subjects. Assist with surgeries and animal care protocols. Coordinate research collaborations with UC Davis faculty and maintain databases of all study data. Mentor undergraduate volunteers and contribute to weekly lab meetings, journal clubs, and workshops. Prepare data for publication and assist with manuscript preparation and conference presentations. Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application) BS/BA in Neuroscience, Bioengineering, Psychology, or a related field. Additional qualifications (required at time of start) Strong interpersonal, communication, and decision‑making skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience with animal handling. Excellent time‑management and attention to detail. Superior problem‑solving, deductive reasoning, and decision‑making skills. Ability to commit to lengthy, complex projects. Preferred qualifications (not required) Previous lab experience with references.
