Clinical Resource Nurse

The BHU Resource RN will provide professional quality psychiatric nursing care to patients hospitalized with psychiatric/emotional disorders according to hospital policies and procedures. The RN assesses, organizes, and completes patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors. The RN participates in the development, review, and evaluation of multidisciplinary treatment plans as per policies and procedures. The RN develops a therapeutic relationship with assigned patients to coordinate psychosocial treatment with standardized physical nursing care and guidance. The RN maintains and reviews patients' records, including posting test and examination results. The RN facilitates patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources, suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors. The RN collaborates with other disciplines as appropriate. The RN supports unit/hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities, as evidenced by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports. The RN performs other duties as assigned. The RN exercises independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only. The RN coordinates activities of others but does not supervise. The RN leads others in the same work performed but does not supervise. The RN has input on performance evaluations but does not prepare or give them. The RN works directly with patients and/or customers. The RN works with internal and external customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction. The RN frequently collaborates with other healthcare professionals and staff. The RN works frequently with individuals at the Director level or above.

Required Skills: Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Ability to be detail-oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
