Functioning in lieu of or alongside a physician, it is essential to have excellent assessment skills to recognize more serious conditions and direct patients to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary. Education Bachelor’s Degree required for Physician Assistants Master’s Degree required for Nurse Practitioners Work Experience One (1) year of full‑time experience in Emergency Medicine or in an Urgent Care setting Will consider two (2) years of Family Medicine experience Licenses / Certifications National Certification Active state medical licensure Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting Applicable office procedures, including suturing, splinting, casting, etc. Preliminary reading of EKGs and X-rays Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting Preferred knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records Attentiveness, strong listening skills, and strong communication and customer service skills Essential Functions Examining and treating patients Taking patients’ medical histories Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X‑rays Making diagnoses and prescribing medications Treating minor injuries requiring sutures, splints, or casting Recording progress notes for follow‑up patients Educating and counseling patients Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients Giving vaccinations and referring patients to additional care Each provider will work an anticipated eight (8) or twelve (12) hour shift, assigned by an authorized representative of GoHealth Urgent Care.
