Survey Crew Chief

Description The Survey Crew Chief is responsible for performing and leading field surveying activities to support construction, mapping, land development, and title-related projects. This role involves researching existing survey records, deeds, maps, and physical evidence to accurately establish locations, elevations, boundaries, and contours. The Survey Crew Chief will play a key role in the continued growth and development of the Survey team. Key Responsibilities include: Conduct extensive fieldwork in a variety of weather conditions and physical environments. Research and interpret survey evidence, including deeds, maps, and prior survey records. Determine appropriate methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control. Collect precise measurements of points, lines, areas, and elevations using GPS and robotic total stations. Maintain accurate field notes, records, and sketches to document and certify work performed. Lead and manage daily field operations, including assigning tasks and supervising crew members. Ensure proper care, maintenance, and organization of survey equipment and vehicles. Required qualifications include: High school diploma or equivalent, with a strong aptitude for mathematics. Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on survey field experience. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, robotic survey instruments, and GPS technology preferred. Strong attention to detail, sound analytical and judgment skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
