This position is responsible for ensuring SBA program eligibility in concurrence with the SBA underwriting standards and guidelines. Primarily the SBA Underwriter/Credit Analyst will perform financial analysis and credit underwriting to support loan origination activities for SBA 7(a) and SBA Express loan products. This position is responsible for analyzing SBA credit requests and assisting with credit approval recommendations based on analysis and review. The underwriter is involved with spreading financial statements, tax returns, calculation of cash flows, and financial ratios. This position will assist in the completion of loan approval packages, assisting the SBA Relationship Managers obtain necessary documentation, and conduct quality assurance prior to the SBA loan closing. The SBA Underwriter/Credit Analyst will also be responsible for annual reviews, as needed, perform industry risk analysis, and complete other related tasks required to support the SBA department.# **What You Will Be Doing:**1. Support SBA Relationship Managers in accurate assessment of SBA eligibility as outlined in the most recent SBA SOP2. Maintain a working knowledge of SBA loan programs3. Analyze personal and business credit data, financial statements, and tax returns with a sound understanding of financial ratio analysis4. Request and review other information that includes accounts receivable aging reports, accounts payable aging reports, financial projections, and other related reports5. Prepare and recommend credit packages for management and loan committee6. Assemble, record, and maintain all credit file data in an accessible and organized manner using shared files and Gesa Credit Union underwriting and record keeping software7. Demonstrate a general knowledge of construction loans and leasehold improvement loans8. Assist all team members when necessary to meet the borrower expectations and department goals9. Demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow within a dynamic and challenging environment10. Assist SBA management with special projects as assigned11. Pull and review credit reports for business and personal borrowers/guarantors12. Participate in outside training, seminars, webinars, and other training to remain current and aware of new growth opportunities13. Submit SBA related forms and documents as needed including but not limited to: Prepare and submit Tax Transcripts with initial review and reconciliation, submit borrower data to CAIVRS, other forms and documents as assigned in fulfillment of the SBA department goals14. The underwriter may need to communicate with the borrower to complete SBA forms 1919 and 41315. Assist SBA Loan Production Assistant/Closer in ordering appraisals, real estate evaluations, market research, UCC searches, environmental reports, title reports, etc in fulfillment of underwriting loan request16. Review the credit approval document once completed by the SBA Relationship ManagerThey will begin the initial draft and enter information into the loan origination system17. Ensure that all credit files include proper documentation including current financial statements, agency reports, etc. Prepare letter requests for update financial statements and tax returns from borrowers/guarantors and maintain tickler system18. Assist SBA Relationship Managers in preparing letters of interest and loan commitment letters19. Assist SBA Relationship Managers with portfolio monitoring activities including annual loan reviews and problem loan reports20. Must understand and perform Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) functions as applicable to job responsibilities21. Attend credit union training sessions, conferences, or seminars as approved by supervisor. Maintain awareness of policies and regulations related to duties and responsibilities22. Maintain a professional work environment and work under restricted time constraints23. Maintain awareness of state and federal laws, regulations, and Gesa’s member business lending policies and procedures24. Demonstrate support of corporate values, mission and vision. Four (4) year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school is preferred but not required, or equivalent experience.2. One (1) to two (2) years of similar or related commercial credit analysis experience preferred.3. Must be able to work under pressure and manage workflow to provide a high level of member service.4. Proficiency with standard office equipment, MS Office and Outlook software and commercial lending platforms.5.
