Position Overview Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician based in St Joseph, Missouri. Compensation and Benefits Hourly Pay: $29.50 per hour Certification Bonus of up to $700 for new ASE Certifications Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter Sign On Bonus: $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends off Shift hours: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (First Shift) Medical, Dental, Vision after 30 days 80 hours PTO in the first year, starting Day 1 Yearly merit pay increases 401(k) company match PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance Paid training to build your skills State‑of‑the‑art equipment and safety‑first workplace Top Tech Competition: Earn between $250 and $50,000 per year U.S. military veterans: Extra paid day off 15% company stock discount Up to $5,000 in tuition repayment for technical training 12 weeks paid maternity leave (subject to eligibility criteria) Employee discounts on tools, vehicles, travel, tech & more Location St Joseph, Missouri 64504 (MO) Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Vocational or technical certification (preferred) Basic tools, required Experience with mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines Routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) Basic diagnostics and repairs (AC and electrical systems) Three or more years of relevant work experience (preferred) All other certifications required by location Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred) Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc. Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire Pass a Ryder drug test Pass a DOT physical Pass a Ryder road test Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years This position requires driving Ryder vehicles Pass any additional customer‑specific screening such as employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, or background checks Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard and preventive maintenance Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision Replace defective components as instructed Work unsupervised on most tasks Perform facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation Comply with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT) Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels Access and use internal and external maintenance documents Other support duties as required, including Service Island support Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220) Complete 2 OEM on‑line diagnostic scan‑tool software courses as required by fleet mix within 365 days Equal Employment Opportunity Ryder is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and drug‑free workplace.
