Job Description
Exciting Opportunity for Night Shift Cardiac PCU Nurses!

Job Description:


- Shift: 12-Hour Nights, 7 PM - 7:30 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend at a minimum (high needs on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday)
- Unit: Cardiac PCU (5th Floor) with 24 beds
- Patient Ratios: 1:3-4 for PCU level acuity
- Required Certifications:
- BLS
- ACLS
- Preferred Certifications:
- NIHSS
- CRRN
- PCCN

Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients:


- TAVR
- Post Caths (TR bands and fem stops)
- Temporary/transvenous pacemakers
- VATS and lobectomies
- Post-operative CABG (POD 2-5)
- Thoracic cases and femoral pops

Must-Have Skills:


- Minimum of 2 years of PCU experience
- Experience handling stable Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) patients
- Ability to titrate common drips such as:
- Nitroglycerin
- Heparin
- Cardizem
- Nicardipine
- Amiodarone
- Insulin
- Dopamine
- Esmolol
- Labetolol
- Milrinone
- Argatroban

Work Environment:


- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor present
- Nurse aids on the unit: 1 CNA for every 8 patients (may be pulled for 1:1 sitters; 1:12 at nights)
- Hospitalist available, not intensivist
- Pharmacy and RT available
- Offsite central monitoring; nurses read and interpret their own strips

Scheduling Notes:


- Shifts run 7 AM - 7:30 PM and 7 PM - 7:30 AM
- 6-week assignments
- Flexibility required for a cohesive team approach

Additional Orientation:


- Epic charting system experience preferred
- 8-hour Epic class and onboarding education day included
