Job Summary The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered respiratory care in accordance with the department’s requirements and the state and specialty scope of practice. The role involves performing diagnostic tests, therapeutic procedures, and monitoring patients on invasive and non‑invasive mechanical ventilation. Responsibilities Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy. Administer respiratory care therapies – oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, chest physiotherapy. Assist with placement of artificial airways. Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation. Monitor patients for therapeutic response; notify providers and intervene as needed in unintended response. Assist with transportation of ventilator‑dependent patients. Respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required. Qualifications Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of employment start date. Neonate Resuscitation within 30 days of employment start date. PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) within 30 days of employment start date. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT/RCP-State) credentials. Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner certification.
