About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Behavioral Health - Inpatient Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: 2 years of behavioral health experience, pediatric experience required License: State license required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Experience in behavioral health and pediatrics Description: A Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for performing the nursing process as a basis for patient care. RNs provide direction and oversight to other licensed and non-licensed staff. RNs show compassion to recipients of services, coworkers, and surrounding communities through integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the promotion of diversity, and professional excellence. The Registered Nurse must demonstrate excellent customer service and have enthusiasm for the program and organization. Assesses care needs of individuals served and develops a plan of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Continually reassesses the plan of care according to the specific needs of individuals served. In collaboration with the physician, provides and coordinates nursing care to individuals and groups. Assists in the teaching of individuals served and families, and provides milieu management. Communicates with and educates individuals served and families about discharge and aftercare planning needs. Provides a safe and secure environment for individuals served and staff in both individual and group settings. Responsible for documenting, reporting, and verifying all necessary information according to established policies and procedures. Monitors for and reports to the physician any potential risks to safety that could lead to adverse outcomes. Creates a customer-friendly environment by following quality improvement standards and maintaining professionalism. Initiates and maintains positive relationships with departments, coworkers, and external customers. Provides care in various clinical settings with diverse populations. Identifies specific needs and implements person-centered, compassionate care. Functions as a clinical leader, delegating and coordinating staff assignments while promoting staff development. Responsible for the utilization and continued review of patient care protocols, standards of practice, and standards of care. Gives input into processes for improvement and promotes careful use of resources. May be responsible for training direct care staff and may oversee medication and physical health activities in programs. Responsible for modeling the mission and values of the organization through professional appearance, attitudes, behaviors, time management, and communication skills. Provides spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients. In community residential settings, supports and promotes a recovery-focused environment and person-centered approach within the program. Commits to demonstrating the model of care in both hospital and residential areas. Responsible for upholding the healing ministry through relationships that honor integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the promotion of diversity, equity, inclusion, and professional excellence. Must maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in the required programmatic training. Performs other duties or functions as assigned. May function as a charge nurse.
