The Apheresis Registered Nurse is a highly-skilled professional performing apheresis procedures, which involve collecting blood components such as plasma, platelets, or white blood cells from donors or patients. The Apheresis unit provides care for pediatric and adult outpatients, as well as inpatients. They are responsible for different types of access including tunneled and non-tunneled central lines, Apheresis ports, as well as peripheral IVs. The RN is accountable for monitoring patients during treatments and having critical thinking for adverse reactions. The department works collaboratively with doctors, fellows, residents and blood bank staff to ensure a positive patient experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
• AHA BLS prior to end of orientation period

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous apheresis or dialysis experience
• Proficient IV skills
• RN with 3-5 years' experience and experience with pediatric and adult nursing
• Must possess knowledge of critical care, to include advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support, and basic cardiopulmonary life support certification
• BSN preferred
