Technical Writer

Supporting the Federal Highway Administration's Office of Research, Development, and Technology, the full-time Technical Writer will research, write, and edit a variety of technical documents, ensuring clarity and compliance with federal publishing standards, while working remotely with occasional travel for client engagements. Key responsibilities Research, write, and edit original content for technical reports, newsletters, and other communication products Collaborate with engineers and researchers to translate complex technical concepts into accessible narratives Provide substantive editing and ensure compliance with style manuals and accessibility requirements Required qualifications 5-10 years of professional experience in technical writing, editing, and publishing Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field Expertise in applying the GPO Style Manual and ensuring Section 508 accessibility compliance Experience in the transportation sector, particularly highway or surface transportation research Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance
