Librarian/Information Competency Instructor (Bilingual), Part-time Adjunct Pool (Online) Salary: $60.00 hourly Job Type: Temporary – Adjuncts Job Number: FY25-2600386 Location: CC - Online, CA Department: Library (LIBR) Representative Duties The successful applicant will provide instruction in Information Competency, both in the classroom and within the library in English and Spanish. Topics include recognizing an information need, information retrieval, evaluation of information, information formats, presenting information effectively, and understanding legal and ethical aspects of information. The assignment may include day or evening classes, weekend classes, large classes, distance learning, and use of multiple teaching methodologies. Other duties include performing academic reference, instruction in the use of the library's online resources, developing and presenting library research and writing workshops, promoting library resources to faculty, and other general library activities such as collection development, creating subject guides, and promotion and outreach. Additional duties include maintaining subject matter currency, developing and revising curriculum, using computer and multimedia technology, and collegial participation in department, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in library science or library and information science, or the equivalent. Candidates may also possess certain combinations of education, experience, and accomplishments judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications. Supporting documents must be provided for any equivalence claims. Degrees and credits must come from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406). Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an approved credential‑evaluation service. A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students is required.
