This role leads engineers in support of safe, stable, and capable manufacturing performance while driving continuous improvement across safety, quality, throughput, reliability, and cost. This position combines direct people leadership with clear technical ownership of a critical manufacturing process area and is intended to build future technical leaders within the Engineering organization.Key Responsibilities:Provide leadership for the Cold End process area, with accountability for technical direction, team effectiveness, and process performanceSupervise and develop engineering team members through clear objectives, coaching, performance feedback, and talent developmentOwn day-to-day technical support and longer-term improvement plans for the Cold End areaLead technical problem solving and root cause analysis to address safety, quality, throughput, reliability, and cost issues within the Cold End processDrive improvement in process stability, yield, equipment performance, and execution across glass sheet separation, trimming, handling, and packing stepsSupport troubleshooting and continuous improvement related to sheet quality, width conformance, defect reduction, material flow, and packaging performancePrioritize engineering resources and activities to support production needs, process improvements, maintenance coordination, experiments, and new product or process introductionsDrive process discipline through adherence to engineering standards, operating procedures, process control requirements, and change management practicesCommunicate process performance, technical priorities, and project status to plant leadership and cross-functional stakeholdersBuild strong working relationships with operations, maintenance, quality, safety, lab, and adjacent engineering teams to develop and implement effective solutionsSupport process trials, equipment improvements, and process changes affecting Cold End performance and reliabilityIdentify and execute opportunities for continuous improvement, cost reduction, capability enhancement, and operational excellenceDevelop and manage project plans and timelines to achieve objectives without sacrificing safety, process control, quality, or execution disciplineMentor and grow emerging technical talent, helping strengthen the overall capability of the Process Engineering organizationActively support plant safety initiatives and reinforce safe design and safe work practicesEnsure the protection of Corning’s Intellectual Property (IP)Work Hours:Standard hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.This role participates in a rotating weekend coverage schedule, planned in advance, to maintain visibility and support for a 24/7 manufacturing process.Flexible hours may be required to support plant needs, troubleshooting, project execution, trials, and off-shift manufacturing support as neededEducation & Experience Required: BS degree, or equivalent, in an engineering discipline3+ years of manufacturing and/or engineering experienceExperience with process control/process discipline, process capability, or product quality improvement in manufacturingExperience leading technical improvement, capital, or cross-functional manufacturing projectsPreferred:3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment2+ years of supervisory, leadership, or demonstrated team leadership experienceExperience working in a unionized facilityRequired Skills:Leadership skills to communicate expectations, align teams, and hold individuals accountableAbility to lead direct and indirect resources in a manufacturing environmentStrong technical problem-solving and decision-making skillsAbility to collaborate across organizational boundaries and integrate solutionsResults-oriented with strong commitment to executionAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentProject management skillsWorking knowledge of Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologiesStrong process discipline and change management mindsetAbility to carry assignments through to completionDesired Skills:Demonstrated results improving yield, process flow, width conformance, defect reduction, or equipment reliability in manufacturingTechnical aptitude and process troubleshooting capabilitySix Sigma Green Belt certificationLean manufacturing experienceExperience with process capability improvement and root cause analysisSoft Skills:Personal initiative and commitmentStrong planning, organization, and time management skillsAbility to build relationships across cross-functional groupsPositive attitude, flexibility, and strong work ethicStrong communication and presentation skillsAbility to prioritize and direct resources to accomplish goalsThis position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $98,662.00 - $135,660.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
