Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shifts | 12-hour shifts with various start times (7p–7a and others) | Every other weekend expected | Holiday rotation with core staff

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Room setting with an average of 75 patients per day, with volume potentially reaching up to 140 patients per day
• Maintain a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio across 14 treatment areas, caring for a diverse patient population including approximately 15% pediatric cases, stroke, orthopedic, abdominal pain, and trauma patients
• Read and interpret cardiac monitor strips independently, as no designated monitor technician is on unit
• Collaborate with ER techs (EMTs), on-staff physicians, and mid-level providers to deliver timely, high-quality emergency care
• Complete a 15-minute proctored EKG competency exam during hospital orientation
• Float to a sister ER facility as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in California
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room experience required
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR
• Ability to work every other weekend and rotate holidays with core staff

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• NIHSS, PALS, NRP, and/or TNCC certifications preferred
• Experience with ventilator patients
• Comfort working in a high-volume, high-acuity environment with diverse and unpredictable patient presentations
