How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As an Engineer Technician, you will perform laboratory testing in support of product research, development, and design for heat exchanger components and systems. The technician sets up and conducts a range of tests—including thermal performance, fan performance, mechanical, structural, sound, and vibration testing—using established procedures with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include operating and calibrating test equipment, collecting and analyzing data, maintaining accurate records, preparing summary reports, and troubleshooting issues throughout the testing process. In addition to laboratory responsibilities, the technician supports purchasing activities, maintains facility equipment, and assists with environmental, safety, and maintenance functions. The role requires strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple concurrent tests, maintain data acquisition systems, and support field testing activities. The technician also interacts with customers during evaluations and may train other technicians as needed. This role encourages innovation and continuously improves efficiency of technical support, monitors advances of technology and competition, and supports global and acquisition-related technical issues in areas of expertise.

Hands-on test/research/fabrication/shop environment

The position may require working occasionally outside normal work hours. (Some nights/weekends due to situational test requirements) Lifting up to 70 pounds. Bending and stooping. Working at heights less than 50 feet above ground. Work with exposure to bad weather and/or excessive heat.
