Overview Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians the chance to work in two distinct settings: Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care veterinary hospitals. These include weekday and weekend shifts to fit your lifestyle. You can set your own rate for each shift, maintain practice activities outside of Petco shifts, and avoid agency fees. Our appointment-based model manages patient flow and allows you to leave on time. You also receive a 15% discount on all Petco products and services. Settings Vetco Vaccination Clinics : Focus on basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement. No surgeries, emergency, or illness care. Primarily located in Petco stores, with some mobile van units. Vetco Total Care : Full-service hospitals offering preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries and dental procedures. Equipped with digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and fully equipped surgery suites. No overnight or emergency on-call shifts. Responsibilities Provide professional veterinary care in either setting, including blood draws, vaccination administration, preventive examinations, and minor surgical procedures as appropriate to the location. Requirements Doctor of Veterinary Medicine license in good standing State-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including blood draws and administering vaccines DEA credential in good standing required for full-service Vetco Total Care hospital relief shifts Ability to provide Professional Liability Insurance and license defense policy Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates Compensation Minnesota state bid rates average $134.00–$167.00/hr.
