Domestic Violence Advocate

Job Overview Domestic Violence Advocate. 2 positions open: 1 Full‑Time and 1 Part‑Time, both located in Belmont, NY. The DV Family Advocate applies trauma‑informed practices to family development services for victims of domestic violence through education, encouragement, and empowerment of survivors, and provides comprehensive services including responding to the hotline and emergencies related to safety. Serves as a member of the ACCORD team by supporting ACCORD Corporation operations. Responsibilities Provides comprehensive family development services for victims of domestic violence by offering court advocacy, assessing needs, determining eligibility, coordinating supportive services, making referrals, preparing family offense petitions, assisting with safety planning, and responding to hotline and emergencies. Completes program reporting requirements by entering required client and program data, documenting training attendance, and submitting accurate, timely reports. Supports the Allegany County Consortium on Domestic Violence by participating in consortium activities and achieving its goals. Promotes a positive agency image and credibility by adhering to the code of conduct, assuring effective risk management practices, and identifying and reporting potential safety, ethical, and legal concerns. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing program goals and completing other duties as assigned. Demonstrates computer proficiency with word processing and data entry. Manages multiple tasks and priorities, differentiating between tasks of varying priority levels. Accepts supervisor recommendations, treats colleagues and participants with respect, and performs job results in a non‑judgmental manner. Maintains a clean and safe environment, safeguards confidentiality, and follows procedures, rules, and regulations. Works independently with initiative, self‑motivation, and effective problem‑solving. Time Expectations Will work all assigned hours and report to work on time, meet all time frames and due dates without reminders, and use leave time appropriately. Qualifications Associate's degree in human services, sociology, criminal justice, or related field. Current, valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Experience Two years of experience working with families in crisis or victim services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Environment & Physical Demands May require engaging in talking, balancing, driving, carrying objects, climbing, crawling, kneeling, stooping, grasping, general lifting, and computer work.
