Key Responsibilities

• Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including posture training, strengthening exercise, endurance/cardiac training, balance and coordination exercises, joint mobility, muscle lengthening, pain relief, and functional skills training
• Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs; demonstrate proper guarding techniques and safety awareness
• Apply and demonstrate therapeutic modalities including whirlpools, hot/cold packs, paraffin bath, ultrasound, iontophoresis, fluidotherapy, and air splints
• Monitor patient response to treatment and intervene as necessary; document patient progress, response to treatment, and patient/family education
• Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control guidelines, safe patient handling practices, and proper equipment use and maintenance
• Participate in team conferences, consult with other healthcare disciplines, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license or eligibility to practice in Florida
• Ability to implement and carry out treatment plans under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist
• Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and assistive/adaptive devices
• Commitment to patient and employee safety standards, including safe patient handling and infection control protocols
• Strong documentation skills and ability to maintain accurate patient records

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in an outpatient physical therapy setting
• Familiarity with community re-entry training and functional skills programs
• Experience with a broad range of therapeutic modalities and assistive device training
