Library Support Intern - Columbus Public Library Key Responsibilities Customer Service Excellence: Provide friendly and helpful assistance to library patrons of all ages and backgrounds at public service desks, including circulation tasks. Patron Assistance: Greet visitors, assist them in using the online catalog, and help them locate various library resources. Material Management: Accurately check materials in and out, inspect and sort items, and shelve materials in the correct order. Technology Support: Help patrons use public computers, copiers, printing stations, and other digital library technology, including makerspace equipment. Learning and Observation: Observe and job shadow all library departments and support organizations to gain a comprehensive understanding of library operations. Qualifications Currently enrolled in high school, a recent high school or GED graduate, or pursuing a higher education. Some experience in customer service or clerical duties is a plus, along with a general ability to organize and perform administrative tasks. Ability to read and understand information in electronic records and on library materials (i.e., read and understand spine labels); ability to identify and sort library materials; ability to move library materials used by patrons to appropriate location.
