This role plays a key part in fabricating and finishing fiberglass components used in tanks and industrial equipment. • Room for growth and advancement within a growing organizationJob Purpose: The Fiberglass Technician II is responsible for applying fiberglass and paint to assigned projects. They are proficient in performing tasks across all work stations, consistently producing accurate, high-quality, and leak-free parts on the first attempt.

Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Works with various chemicals including fiberglass resins, gelcoats, acetone, and fiberglass catalysts.
2. Accurately determine catalyst ratios for environmental conditions.
3. Safely and accurately weigh, measure and mix materials to achieve the desired performance.
4. Work with fiberglass molds, applying fiberglass resin to surface of molds.
5. Safely move tanks with forklifts and cranes
6. Prep and finish the inside of tank, installs fittings, grinds and repairs lumps air bubbles and patches, grinds and loose fibers and preps the outside of tanks for gel coating or occasional paint. Mixes gel coat
7. Installs finishing hardware, trim excess fiberglass extending from edge of flange
8. Perform structural and cosmetic repairs to variety of parts.
9. Finish Operations by cleaning material, equipment, and the work area.
10. Cuts glass, hand glasses in small items, installs manways, installs cone fittings, and handles hardener and resin. Rolls air out of fiberglass and lay it down to the form.
11. Cuts pipe and unloads trucks and pallets. Able to operate machinery such as fiberglass chopper guns.
12. Be able to follow instructions carefully, which may require basic reading skills, ability to follow diagrams, and ability to accurately read tape measure.
13. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Secures tools, materials and equipment at end of day.
14. Properly dispose of hazardous waste in accordance with KDHE requirements.
15. Apply chemical compounds, use hazardous chemicals to clean equipment, deposit the hazardous material into designated containers for reclaim.
16. Ensure all containers containing hazardous materials are labeled and kept covered when not actively in use.
17. Comply with prescribed safety procedures or federal laws regulating waste disposal methods.
18. Additional hazardous waste activities may include, with further training, operating the solvent reclaimer, conducting weekly inspections of hazardous waste storage areas, reviewing/signing waste disposal manifests, moving hazardous waste containers to storage area, cleanup of minor chemical/hazardous waste spills.
19. Complete initial and continued training related to hazardous waste management.

20. Able to troubleshoot problems with equipment and part defect issues.

21. Regular attendance and timeliness.

22. Performs additional duties as needed.

23. Fully trained in, willing to and able to train others in all of the areas of fiberglass production including Mandrell, Seams, Fittings, Small Parts, Gel Coat & Finish.

1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate detailed information to customers, coworkers and management with the ability to provide public speaking and customer presentations as needed.
3. Ability to read and interpret documents such as invoices, procedure manuals, and job instruction,s and basic problem-solving skills.
4. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages.
5. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
6. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and multi-task effectively.
7. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
8. Ability to operate computer and computer software, to include Microsoft Office products.
