Job Application - Cortland County Community Action Program Job Posting OPEN Classroom Substitute Position: Classroom Substitute Program: Early ChildhoodDevelopment Reports to: Classroom Supervisor Status: Variable, up to 37.5hours/week Starting Wage : $16.00 hour Job Function : Assistand share the daily responsibilities with the classroom teacher and assistantteacher in providing a secure and positive learning environment. Thisenvironment should reflect an age-appropriate, self-learning, nurturing,enjoyable, engaging, and a self-confident space that requires performance ofthe following duties. Essential Duties andResponsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Must work cooperatively with the center staff to facilitatedaily activities in the absence of a center staff person. Has the ability to be flexible with frequent daily scheduleand location changes. Responsible for the health and safety of the children inthe center, on the playground, in the gym, and on field trips. Provides active supervision to children while keepingappropriate teacher-to-child ratio at all times. Assist with snack and mealtimes. Helps prepare snack andmeals. Acts as a role model and eats with the children, family style. Must assume a helping role in dealing with the daily centerchores and services which include sweeping, sanitizing tables and other areas,setting tables, monitor and / or assist with toileting and tooth brushing,assisting with arrival and dismissal of children, and monitor rest times. Must work jointly with all staff to promote a team approachof the delivery of Head Start services for all enrolled children,theirfamilies, and the community at large. Promote positive behavior guidance to help children developappropriate classroom and social interaction skills. Practiceeffective behavior management skills and strategies. Utilize the PyramidModel framework to enhance the social and emotional development of youngchildren. Maintains professionalism, uses language appropriate forearly childhood settings. Must follow center procedures for reporting suspected childabuse and neglect. Must attend any required orientation, trainings, conferenceand meetings. May be requested to work one-on-one with students as neededin the classroom to support the overall curriculum, behaviors, and classroomfunctions. May be re-assigned to alternate classrooms throughout theProgram to provide support as needed. Assignments may be temporary or long-termdependent on Program-need. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or generaleducation degree (GED/HSE); prefer related experience and/or training in achildcare setting. Should have a strong desire to work with children birth – 5years old. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations NYS Driver's License preferred.Clearance through the NYS Child Abuse/Maltreatment Registry. Must complete NYSOCFS Daycare regulation trainings as required. Other Qualifications Physical Examination, TB Testing uponhire. Comprehensive background check, including fingerprinting for criminalbackground per the standards set forth by child care licensing. Must be able totravel to all program and Agency sites, training, visits, etc. as necessary andrequested.
