About the Role
The Company is seeking an inaugural Dean for its newly created College of Design, Media, and the Arts. This visionary leader will be responsible for defining the College's identity, fostering a bold, shared vision, and expanding opportunities for students and faculty. The successful candidate will not be tasked with the operational mechanics of uniting the College, as this work is being undertaken by the institution. Instead, the focus will be on building a strong academic and creative community, strengthening the distinctive excellence of the various disciplines, and creating new possibilities at their intersections. The Dean will also be expected to champion faculty excellence, research, and creative practice, and to support meaningful collaboration across disciplinary boundaries. Candidates for the Dean position should hold a doctoral or terminal degree in a relevant discipline or demonstrate highly distinguished performance in one of the fields represented in the College. A minimum of 7 years' significant administrative experience in an academic setting, including a faculty role and experience at a level commensurate with a department chair or school director, is required. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for scholarly and creative work, strong financial and fundraising acumen, and the ability to lead effectively within a complex public research university. The role demands a leader who is a builder, combining strategic imagination with relational intelligence, and who can inspire a diverse community around a shared sense of possibility.
