Emergency Medical Technician 2Inova Franconia Springfield Healthplex is looking for a dedicated Emergency Medical Technician 2 to join the Emergency Department team. Shift: PRN, as needed. Assists mid-level providers and physicians with collecting, labeling and transporting irretrievable specimens. Cleans and dresses wounds per physician orders and performs surgical preparation of wounds according to protocol and assists with application/removal of sutures.Emergency Medical Technician 2 Job Responsibilities:Documents all required fields in medical records, computer entries and charges.Applies orthopedic splinting devices.Collects patient specimens following department/facility policies and procedures.Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies to optimize delivery of patient care and treatment.Assists with patient transport for testing, admission/discharge, interfacility and aeromedical (per policy of Operating Unit).Performs 12 lead ECG and places patients on continuous cardiac monitoring.Performs patient phlebotomy following department/facility policies and procedures.Provides wound care according to department clinical practice standards and acts as a resource to physicians and nurses to assist with optimum care.May perform additional duties as assigned.Training: Must be available for six (6) weeks of paid training, consisting of:Virtual modulesClassroom-style sessions: 8AM – 4:30PMOn-unit training with department hired into (times TBD)Minimum Qualifications:Experience: 1 year of EMT-B experienceEducation: High School Diploma or GEDCertification: BLS from American Heart AssociationEMT-B; must either be active on the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) or possess a current Virginia EMT License/CertificationSpecial Skills: Able to read, write, speak and understand English.
