Typically about 22.5 hours a week, mornings and afternoonsMonday to Friday during the school day, home every nightExtra paid hours for field trips, sports and activity runs, offered on a rotational basisSummer work is available but not mandatorySupplemental Benefits availableDriving students in the United School DistrictWhat the job involvesYou will drive a bus on a set route, morning and afternoon, carrying students to and from school. Alongside driving, you are responsible for pre-trip inspections, keeping the vehicle within DOT requirements, checking the vehicle after every route, and managing student behavior safely.Your dayMorning route typically around 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Afternoon route typically around 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is a split shift with a break in between.Field trips, sports and activity runs are optional and assigned on a rotational basis. They are paid at a separate activity rate.This may suit you if you areAlready holding a CDL and looking for regular hours. Coming off the road and want to stay in driving without the travel. Or interested in the CDL training we provide.What you needCDL Class B with school bus passenger and air brake endorsements, or a willingness to complete our CDL trainingA valid driver's license and a clean driving recordTo be dependable about time and comfortable managing studentsTo pass a background check, clearances, a DOT physical and a drug screeningCDL trainingThe company pays for licensing and permit fees. Orientation is paid at $7.25 an hour. The 14 hours of classroom time and 6 hours behind the wheel are not paid.There is no training repayment agreement or employment commitment.What happens after you applyState and federal background checks. This is currently the longest step.Child abuse clearance. Clearances currently run about 2 weeks.A DOT physical and a pre-employment drug and alcohol screeningAn MVR reviewFederal fingerprintingTraining and orientation before your first route, about 8 hours, completed while clearances are processingYou will receive an email asking to upload a picture of your driver's license.
