About the Opportunity


Seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead the design, governance, and evolution of the Symphony Data Platform. This is a highly technical, hands-on architecture role that requires both strategic architectural leadership and the ability to actively contribute to implementation.


The ideal candidate will partner closely with the Data Lead and engineering teams to define scalable architecture, drive platform modernization initiatives, establish engineering standards, and ensure alignment with the organization's metadata-driven framework.


This role is best suited for an architect who remains deeply engaged in technical design, coding standards, data engineering practices, and platform optimization rather than serving solely in an advisory capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the overall architecture and technical direction of the Symphony Data Platform
• Design, implement, and govern the metadata-driven architecture framework supporting the platform
• Lead architectural planning and execution for Phase 2 initiatives, including:
  • Platform modernization
  • Refactoring and code optimization
  • Performance tuning and scalability improvements
• Define and enforce standards for:
  • Data modeling
  • Data warehousing
  • Pipeline architecture
  • Code structure and development practices
• Guide the organization's transition from Azure Synapse to Microsoft Fabric
• Ensure orchestration pipelines are used strictly for scheduling and workflow management, with ETL logic maintained within code
• Drive automation, reusable frameworks, and engineering best practices across development teams
• Participate directly in discovery sessions and data analysis activities to derive business and technical requirements
• Mentor data engineers and provide hands-on architectural guidance
• Collaborate closely with engineering leadership and technical stakeholders to maintain architectural alignment and consistency
• Support code reviews, technical design reviews, and architecture governance processes

Required Qualifications

Must-Have Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, or Enterprise Data Platform development
• Expert-level understanding of Apache Spark architecture and distributed data processing concepts
• Strong hands-on development experience with:
  • Scala and/or Java
  • Advanced SQL
• Deep expertise in:
  • Data Warehousing
  • Data Modeling
  • Enterprise Data Integration
  • Metadata-Driven Architectures
• Extensive experience with Azure Synapse Analytics
• Experience designing and implementing scalable enterprise data platforms
• Proficiency using GitHub for source control, collaboration, and code management
• Experience integrating multiple enterprise, customer, marketing, or analytics data sources
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical architecture solutions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Fabric migration initiatives
• Experience supporting Marketing Analytics, Consumer Analytics, or Customer Data Platforms
• Experience within Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) organizations
• Strong background in platform modernization and cloud-native architecture
• Experience developing reusable frameworks and automation-driven engineering practices

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
• Equivalent professional experience will also be considered
