We are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team located at our office in Charlotte, NC . Our ideal candidate for a Senior Mechanical Engineer is someone who has 8+ years of experience as a Mechanical Design-Build Engineer or in a similar role. They will be someone who is a self-starter and will bring a strong sense of leadership, direction, and commitment to our projects.

Primary responsibilities for iENG’s Senior Mechanical Engineer include:

\n

\n

\n
• Leading mechanical design and implementation projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
\n
• Designing, specifying, and selecting mechanical systems and components, considering factors such as energy efficiency, cost, and regulatory compliance.
\n
• Performing load calculations, airflow analyses, and other technical assessments to inform system sizing and design.
\n
• Ensuring all designs meet relevant local and international codes, standards, and safety regulations, including ASHRAE, LEED, and NFPA standards.
\n
• Preparing and reviewing technical documents, including design drawings, specifications, equipment selections and submittals, and cost estimates.
\n
• Overseeing installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of HVAC systems to ensure quality and functionality.
\n
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams.
\n
• Collaborating with clients and owners to understand project requirements and provide technical support and recommendations.

Primary qualifications for iENG’s Senior Mechanical Engineer include:

\n

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related engineering degree from an accredited institution).
\n
• 8-10+ years of relevant mechanical engineering design or design-build experience with a focus on HVAC and piping systems design. Plumbing knowledge is a plus!
\n
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
\n
• LEED Accreditation is a plus.
\n
• Proficient in HVAC design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Trane Trace, Carrier HAP) and building management systems (BMS).
\n
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, internal and external teams.
\n
• Proven experience in mentoring junior engineers and guiding teams to success.
\n
• Strong work ethic and ability to work well with both a team and independently with minimal supervision.
\n
• Ability to work within an environment with deadlines, and when tasked with multiple duties your attention to detail stays consistent.
