Senior Field Service Mechanic/Technician - Forklifts & Heavy Machinery

Job Overview Title: Senior Mechanic/Technician Department: Service Location: BR09- Montgomery, AL Responsibilities Operate from home to service customers on-site using a company‑provided van, traveling throughout a designated territory. Diagnose, repair, and maintain forklifts, heavy machinery, and material handling equipment across warehousing, distribution, and manufacturing industries. Execute advanced diagnostic procedures for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, ensuring first‑time fix and preventive maintenance. Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and safety checks to keep WMH and customer equipment operating at peak performance. Lead and mentor junior technicians, providing training, coaching, and skill development. Communicate clearly with clients, offering expert consultation, service recommendations, and timely updates on service status. Maintain accurate service reports, repair logs, and work orders, ensuring compliance with OSHA and industry regulations. Uphold safety and compliance standards in all operations, including adherence to OSHA guidelines. Work physically demanding tasks such as standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting weights over 50 lbs. Qualifications Minimum 5+ years of experience as a mechanic/technician in material handling, heavy equipment, or automotive industries. Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and industrial machinery. ASE Certification in brakes, electrical, diesel, and/or preventative maintenance preferred; forklift certification a plus. Proficient in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex industrial equipment. Familiarity with OSHA regulations, equipment compliance, and workplace safety standards. Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and customer‑service skills. Demonstrated leadership and mentorship experience, training junior technicians. Proficient with diagnostic software, schematics, Microsoft Office, digital work platforms, and fleet management systems. Valid driver’s license required for company van use. Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in varying environmental conditions, and travel within the assigned territory.
