PhlebotomistThe Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing blood on patients, performing necessary in-house testing, and preparing specimens sent to reference lab.Primary Responsibilities:Prepares equipment to efficiently collect blood productsPerforms venipuncture using vacutainer, syringe and butterfly techniques; capillary punctures using heel and finger stick techniques on patients. Identifies and labels specimensConducts designated laboratory testingInstructs patients on urine collection procedures. Allocates urine specimensCleans and sterilizes equipment, instruments, and work areaInventories supplies and places ordersEnters laboratory data into computer systemMaintains patient confidentialityData enters is accurate and timelyMonitors biohazard wasteEnsures preventive maintenance is performed on all equipment and monitorsResponses timely to abnormal and panic valuesMaintains knowledge of all routine container and minimum volumes required for specimen collectionPerforms all other related duties as assignedYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:High school graduate or GED equivalentNational certification or registration as Medical Assistant or PhlebotomistBLS and/or CPR certification1+ years of related experienceKnowledge of laboratory techniques to perform routine blood and urine testsKnowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checksKnowledge of medical terminologyProven computer literacyProven skill in operating a variety of laboratory instrumentationProven to maintain all materials for collectionProven skill in preparing written reports concerning the results of laboratory tests and input data into computer systemProven skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the publicProven ability to read and understand oral and written instructionsProven ability to follow written protocolsProven ability to work independentlyProven good communication and customer service skillsThis position requires Tuberculosis screening as well as proof of immunity to Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis through lab confirmation of immunity, documented evidence of vaccination, or a doctor's diagnosis of diseasePreferred Qualifications:CLA or ASCP Certified2+ years of experience in a medical settingPhysical & Mental Requirements:Ability to lift up to 100 poundsAbility to push or pull heavy objects using up to 300 pounds of forceAbility to stand for extended periods of timeAbility to use fine motor skills to operate equipment and/or machineryAbility to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solvingOccasionally requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluidsPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $29.00 per hour based on full-time employment.
