Safety Director

Local Safety DirectorSMG is seeking a Local Safety Director in Kenosha, Wisconsin.Overview of Job ResponsibilitiesLead and administer project HSE programs to ensure compliance with safety policies, regulatory requirements, and project standards.Conduct field audits, safety observations, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and drive corrective actions.Review and approve contractor safety personnel, safety plans, and project-specific HSE procedures.Partner with project management, contractors, and site leadership to integrate safety requirements into daily operations.Investigate incidents, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive actions.Monitor contractor performance and provide coaching, training, and guidance to strengthen safety culture and compliance.Facilitate safety meetings, track safety trends and corrective actions, and communicate project safety performance to key stakeholders.Provide technical expertise on OSHA regulations, industry standards, and best practices within construction and general industry environments.Manage injury and incident reporting, case management, and return-to-work processes as needed.Promote continuous improvement through safety initiatives, training programs, and workforce engagement efforts.Requirements15+ years of construction safety experienceExperience leading large-scale construction projectsDegree in Safety or Construction is requiredPrevious safety leadership experienceOSHA 30-Hour Construction Course, BCSP cert is preferredPhysical Demands of the job may includeMoving about long distancesAscending/Descending stairs and laddersRemaining in a stationary position for a prolonged periodWorking in extreme weatherBeing exposed to loud noisesWearing personal protective gear correctlyJoin an elite group of Safety Professionals!SMG provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
