The State of Connecticut Military Department (CTMD) is accepting applications for an Electronics Technician 1 based at the Governor William A. O'Neill Armory located at 360 Broad Street in Hartford, CT. Position Highlights Full‑time, first shift Monday – Friday 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM (37.5 hours) Successful completion of a federal background investigation will be required before individuals are certified for permanent appointment to the position. Benefits Paid time off Professional growth and development opportunities Healthy work/life balance for all employees Dedicated employee parking Examples of Duties Performs and/or assists in the installation, maintenance, repair, modification and calibration of electronic equipment such as two‑way radio, scientific research electronic devices, traffic signal equipment, recorders, amplifiers, power supplies and other types of analog and digital equipment containing transistors, integrated circuits, microprocessors, nuclear radiation detection equipment, computer equipment, etc. Uses standard and specialized test equipment in isolating malfunctions and defective components. May prepare written or oral reports. Performs related duties as required. Knowledge, Skill and Ability Knowledge of Methods of maintenance, operation and repair of electronic equipment and devices; knowledge of analog, digital and logic functions. Integrated circuits including microprocessor units. Use of oscilloscopes and signal generators. Skills Interpersonal skills. Oral and written communication skills. Ability to utilize computer software. Minimum Qualifications – General Experience Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance, repair and servicing of electronic equipment. Minimum Qualifications – Substitutions Allowed College training in electronics or a related field may be substituted for the general experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one‑half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years for an Associate’s degree. Preferred Qualifications 2 years experience as an elections technician. Experience working with intrusion detection systems, access control systems, CCTV systems. Experience using Microsoft products (O365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams). Available for both intra‑State and interstate travel for Federal or State mandated training as the need arises. Possess and retain a valid driver’s license. Experience with basic electronic/electrical theory. Must successfully pass a Federal background investigation. Special Requirements May be required to possess and retain appropriate current licenses, permits and/or certifications. May be required to attend technical seminars or schools. May be required to travel. Working Conditions Incumbents may be exposed to high voltage electricity; may be exposed to extreme weather conditions if required to work outside.
