Job Title: CDL Driver Job Description

This role involves safely operating commercial vehicles to transport freight to customer locations while complying with all federal, state, and local regulations. You will perform thorough vehicle inspections, maintain accurate transportation documentation, and communicate effectively with dispatch and customers to ensure timely and reliable deliveries. The position requires a strong focus on safety, cargo security, and professional customer service throughout each trip.

Responsibilities

• Operate commercial trucks safely and efficiently in compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
• Transport freight to customer locations according to established delivery schedules and route plans.
• Conduct comprehensive pre-trip, in-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure roadworthiness and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain accurate driver logs, delivery records, and all required transportation documentation.
• Secure cargo properly to maintain load integrity, prevent damage, and ensure safe transport.
• Communicate regularly with dispatch regarding routes, schedules, delays, and delivery status.
• Adhere to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and all company safety policies and procedures.
• Promptly report any vehicle maintenance issues, accidents, incidents, or safety concerns.
• Assist with loading and unloading freight as needed to support efficient operations.
• Provide professional, courteous, and responsive service to customers and business partners during pickups and deliveries.

Essential Skills

• Valid CDL A license.
• Ability to operate commercial trucks safely and confidently in various driving and weather conditions.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including DOT requirements.
• Ability to perform thorough vehicle inspections and identify potential mechanical or safety issues.
• Competence in maintaining accurate driver logs, delivery records, and transportation documentation.
• Skill in properly securing cargo to ensure safe and damage-free transport.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with dispatch and interacting with customers.
• Commitment to following safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Ability to assist with loading and unloading freight when required.

• Experience driving commercial trucks or tractor-trailers.

Work Environment

This role is primarily road-based and involves operating commercial trucks on various routes to customer locations. This is a Permanent position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45000.00 - $55000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
