Description

American Traveler is hiring a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for a 13-week travel assignment at an academic medical center, requiring ARRT (N), NMTCB, and a minimum of 1–2 years of independent Nuclear Medicine experience.

Details

• Hospital-based Nuclear Medicine department serving both inpatient and outpatient adult and geriatric populations
• High-volume nuclear stress test caseload, along with HIDA scans, VQ scans, biliary studies, lymph injections, and amyloid studies
• GE imaging equipment, including the SPECT CT G850
• Epic EMR preferred
• 5x8 day shifts, Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
• Every other weekend on-call required, either Saturday or Sunday (not both consecutive days) — minimum 1 weekend on-call every other week
• Weekday on-call coverage required twice per week from 4:00 PM–10:00 PM
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required within the specialty and to other units within scope

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Nuclear Medicine experience required; candidates with 1 year of strong, independent experience may be considered
• Active ARRT (N), ARRT (R), NMTCB, and BLS (AHA only) required
• State license required if applicable
• Strong independent skills required — must be able to work with minimal orientation
• Experience with bone scans (3-phase, limited, whole body), myocardial perfusion imaging, SPECT, pharmacological stress testing, gastric emptying, HIDA scans, MUGA scans, DEXA scans, and lung perfusion scans
• Experience with GE Nuclear Medicine equipment
• Proficiency in storing, handling, and disposing of radioactive materials
• Ability to start and maintain IVs
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE
• Academic teaching hospital experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Nuclear Cardiology experience preferred

Additional Information

• Performs a wide range of diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures including nuclear stress tests, HIDA scans, VQ scans, biliary studies, lymph injections, amyloid studies, renal flow/function, liver/spleen scans, tumor localization, and uptake scans
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Black scrubs required
• Candidates must be comfortable floating within scope — travelers are first to float, with no restrictions or special requests
• Max 7 days of time off may be requested; requests exceeding 4 consecutive days require an additional week added to the end of the contract
• Candidates must have a permanent address 50+ miles from the facility to be eligible
• Former travelers who have worked at this health system must have been away for at least 6 months after completing their last assignment before returning
• Former staff of the health system must have been separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Most units allow one major holiday off during the winter season
• Onboarding labs must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing; compliance documents are due 5 days prior to start
