General Surgery Physician (MD/DO) - North Carolina Surgery at Wilson

North Carolina Surgery at Wilson is hiring a General Surgeon in Wilson, NC. The practice focuses on general surgery cases, such as breast surgery, colon surgery, and hernia surgery using laparoscopic techniques. Through its partnership with North Carolina Surgery, the practice's patients will have easy access to a network of more than three dozen surgeons who can provide resources for complex cases.

The practice currently consists of three physicians (MDs) and two advanced practice providers, with an additional APP to be hired. Average patient volume ranges from approximately 80 to 120 patients per month, and the position includes both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities. Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible and comfortable performing the full scope of general surgery procedures. The role offers a competitive compensation package including bonus opportunities. Practice hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a call schedule of 1:3.

Responsibilities: Provides professional medical services to patients. Exercises independent professional judgment in the care and treatment of patients. Orders and prescribes medical treatment, diagnostic testing, nursing care, and other health and medical services. Prescribes medically appropriate pharmaceuticals. Consults and counsels with patients and families. Provides health and medical education to patients and families. Refers patients as needed to appropriate medical specialists and other health care professionals to assure appropriate multidisciplinary care is provided. Documents medical and clinical care in the patient's medical record. Assigns the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to permit third-party insurance billing. Supervises other medical professionals. Adheres to the principles of medical ethics.

Education Requirements: Graduation from an accredited school of medicine. Licensure/Certification Requirements: DEA; MD BLS; BC/BE in Surgery.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements: Language Skills: Should be able to communicate proficiently in English. Reasoning Ability: High-level quantitative and qualitative reasoning skills are essential in order to diagnose medical and clinical issues presented by patients. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: North Carolina Medical License, DEA License, BLS/ACLS certification preferred. Board-certified or board-eligible in Surgery.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds required.

Work Environment: Physician generally works in a medical office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
