CATIA Designer

This CATIA Designer role supports the development and integration of vehicle systems for advanced mobility and electrified vehicle programs. The designer will focus on vehicle packaging, CAD design support, and conceptual routing studies while collaborating closely with Mechanical Engineering and cross-functional teams to deliver practical, manufacturable solutions. The position requires strong CATIA expertise, experience with automotive vehicle architectures, and the ability to support packaging, thermal, and electrical routing activities from concept through design development.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain accurate 3D CAD models, assemblies, and vehicle layouts using CATIA.
• Support vehicle packaging activities across multiple vehicle systems and subsystems, ensuring robust integration.
• Perform detailed packaging studies to evaluate component placement, clearances, serviceability, and manufacturability.
• Generate conceptual and production-level CAD models and supporting documentation for vehicle programs.
• Work closely with Mechanical Engineers to execute design concepts and meet packaging requirements.
• Support integration of components within vehicle architectures while balancing packaging constraints and design trade-offs.
• Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations on vehicle layout and component integration.
• Develop conceptual electrical routing paths for vehicle systems in collaboration with electrical and mechanical teams.
• Support thermal management packaging studies and routing considerations for cooling systems and related components.
• Evaluate packaging impacts related to wiring, harnesses, connectors, cooling systems, and other vehicle components.
• Participate in engineering design reviews with internal stakeholders to align on design direction and resolve issues.
• Coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams to identify and resolve packaging conflicts and support program milestones.
• Maintain CAD data integrity and support design release activities in accordance with established processes.

Essential Skills:

• Demonstrated proficiency with CATIA V5 and/or CATIA V6 for 3D modeling and assemblies.
• Experience creating and modifying 3D models, assemblies, and vehicle layouts in an automotive context.
• Strong understanding of automotive vehicle packaging principles and best practices.
• Experience supporting mechanical design and system integration activities for vehicle systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering requirements and translate them into robust CAD solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience supporting EV, hybrid, automotive, or mobility programs.
• Knowledge of electrical routing, harness packaging, and vehicle integration.
• Familiarity with thermal management system packaging and related routing considerations.
• Experience participating in design reviews and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Knowledge of automotive product development processes and release procedures.

This role operates in a professional engineering environment focused on advanced mobility and electrified vehicle programs. The CATIA Designer works closely with mechanical, electrical, and cross-functional engineering teams, using CATIA V5 and/or V6 and related CAD tools to support vehicle packaging and integration activities from concept through design development. Work typically involves participation in structured design reviews, adherence to established product development and release procedures, and ongoing collaboration to meet program milestones. Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract position based out of Dexter, MI.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $42.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
