Be a part of the Insight Chicago team that provides patient care second to none!Licensed Practical Nurse IThe Licensed Practical Nurse I works as a team member with other ancillary personnel under the direction of the registered professional nurse to meet technical care needs for a specified population of patients. These duties are to be performed in a highly confidential manner, in accordance with the mission, values and behaviors of Mercy Hospital and Medical Center. Employees are further expected to provide a high quality of care, service, and kindness toward all patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and guests.Duties and responsibilities include:Delivers patient-centered nursing care in accordance with standards of care defined by InsightApplies excellent telephonic customer service skillsAcquires and maintains current knowledge in nursing practice and educationEnsures proper utilization of hospital resources and level of careAssesses relevant clinical and age-related information (all ages) to assist in timely appropriate bed assignmentsIntervenes to resolve system problems that delay delivery of patient careConsiders safety and cost effectiveness when delivering patient careDecisions and actions on behalf of patients are determined in an ethical mannerParticipates in the improvement of operational functions of the departmentEstablishes and maintains effective and respectful communication in development of all collaborative relationshipsEvaluates and participates in opportunities for outstanding service to all customers and accepts responsibility in partnership that is equally respectful to everyoneAbility to utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify, interpret, and access appropriate resources in patient specific scenario(s)Integrates results of performance improvement activities to improve patient outcomes, utilization of hospital resources and length of stayCoordinates special bed requestsCollaborate with physicians, and other hospital personnel as necessary to provide quality patient care & expedite throughputRequired knowledge, skills, and abilities include:Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing requiredCurrent LPN license as a practical nurse in the State of Illinois requiredCurrent ACLS and Basic Life Support certificationsAbility to quickly recognize changes in condition and needs of patientsAbility to maintain a high degree of accuracy in carrying out work dutiesBenefits include:Paid sick time - effective 90 days after employmentPaid vacation time - effective 90 days after employmentHealth, vision & dental benefits - eligible at 30 days, following the 1st of the following monthShort and long-term disability and basic life insurance - after 30 days of employmentInsight employees are required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 as a condition of employment, subject to accommodation for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.
