Description Leidos Defense Systems Land Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer to join a radar development team for a defense customer. Land Systems has a long history of radar development, including hardware design, algorithm development, and data analysis for a variety of customers. This Systems Engineer will work with the broader engineering team to develop detailed requirements specifications for the radar system at the system, subsystem, and component levels, create and maintain systems engineering artifacts such as Requirements Specifications, Test Procedures, Test Reports, and CONOPS. Experience with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) content is helpful, but a strong background in requirements development is minimally necessary. The role is embedded in a matrixed organization supporting multiple programs across diverse engineering fields. Upon completion of a program, the Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to support a new program within the portfolio. Experience in areas such as MBSE, Human Factors Engineering, Risk Management, or Reliability Analysis is treated preferentially, though traditional systems engineering and technical leadership are required. Responsibilities Develop system-, subsystem-, and component-level requirement specifications for radar systems. Produce and manage systems engineering artifacts (Requirements Specifications, Test Procedures, Test Reports, CONOPS). Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a matrixed environment. Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members. Transition to support new programs upon program completion. Basic Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent ABET‑accredited degree with 6+ years of experience, or an MS with 4+ years. Experience deriving requirements for complex electrical, electro‑mechanical, mechanical, and software systems. Ability to collaborate within a multi‑disciplinary engineering environment. Effective communication skills within team settings. Residency in the North Alabama area or willingness to relocate to the Huntsville – North Alabama, AL area. Possession of a Secret clearance, or ability to obtain one. Preferred Qualifications Master of Science in Systems Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university, and/or at least 2–4 years of direct systems engineering experience. Experience in radar development/design. Familiarity with DOORS, JAMA, or other requirements database tools. Experience with MagicDraw or other MBSE modeling tools. Demonstrated leadership of engineering teams. Skill in estimating engineering effort for Systems Engineering tasks. Understanding of DoD acquisition processes and methods. Experience supporting DoD programs. Object Management Group (OMG) Certified System Modeler Professional (OCSMP) certification. INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification (ASEP or CSEP). Pay Range Pay Range: $87,100.00 – $157,450.00.
