About the role

We are currently seeking a Fellow level R&D Engineer with expertise in imaging physics to lead the ongoing development of an acoustic measurement laboratory at Boston Scientific. In this role, you will lead the implementation of test systems and test methods for evaluating ultrasound transducers and assembled ICE catheters. As a senior level technical contributor, you will collaborate with engineering, technical and business functions across the Boston Scientific global network to guide the development of these important test and measurement capabilities.

  Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead the set-up of test systems and laboratory functions related to intracardiac ultrasound.
• Implement test methods and best practices for data collection and analysis.
• Conduct engineering studies of transducers and device prototypes.
• Train and mentor BSC team members on the test systems and methods.
• Partner with transducer and acoustics experts to disposition experimental findings.
• Collaborate with ultrasound and related technology SMEs across Boston Scientific’s global network.
• Mentorship and coaching of early-career team members to elevate capabilities of R&D Team.
• Other duties as required.

Required qualifications:

• Master’s or PhD degree in relevant engineering or science discipline.
• 10 years ( or 8 years with PhD ) experience in the field of medical physics / imaging.
• Demonstrated experience with empirical data collection in the field of medical physics / imaging, including fundamental understanding of test systems and test methodologies.
• Experience with the day-to-day operations of a medical physics / imaging laboratory environment.
• Desire to work in a fast-paced environment, often with minimal direct supervision.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in echocardiography

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
