Mechanical & Piping Estimator

A well-established specialty contractor operating across the U.S. is hiring a Mechanical Piping Construction Estimator for its Greater Kansas City office. This firm delivers multi-trade construction solutions — including mechanical, piping, HVAC, plumbing, and building systems — on complex projects in healthcare, industrial, mission critical, and heavy commercial sectors. This role offers a lead estimating position with real ownership over bid outcomes, team leadership, and direct access to decision-makers at the owner and GC level. Overview Prepare detailed mechanical piping construction estimates used for bid preparation, project planning, subcontractor and vendor selection, and cost-effectiveness analysis Lead a team of estimators: manage work assignments, performance reviews, resource allocation, and skills development Collaborate with marketing to evaluate bid opportunities against the company's strategic growth targets Represent the firm's capabilities directly to GC and owner-level decision-makers during the estimating and pre-award process Consult with clients, vendors, and field staff to develop accurate estimates and resolve scope or pricing questions Track and analyze cost trends to support ongoing process improvement and margin management Preferred Skills/Experiences High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in construction management or mechanical engineering preferred Minimum 5 years of mechanical piping construction estimating experience Demonstrated experience bidding non-residential projects at $250K+ Experience in industrial, healthcare, mission critical, government, or heavy commercial construction preferred Proficiency with computerized estimating software; Accubid Enterprise experience a plus Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); willingness to learn new platforms required Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting to external stakeholders Valid driver's license and clean driving record required; must pass background check and drug screen #J-18808-Ljbffr Advastar, Inc. | Recruiting & Staffing
