Respiratory Therapist

This is a 13-week contract position.

Day shift, working 3x12 hour shifts.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory services and patient transport as medically prescribed. Operating within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision, the Respiratory Therapist evaluates patients and recommends appropriate treatment plans. Responsibilities include educating patients on treatment purposes, procedures, and equipment, as well as providing necessary discharge instructions.

Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory, oxygen, and aerosol devices.

Administer chest physiotherapy and perform suctioning by various methods.

Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.

Review patient chest x-rays and conduct 12-Lead EKGs and basic arrhythmia recognition.

Perform pulmonary function studies and assist with respiratory care-related procedures.

Provide tracheostomy care and perform arterial punctures as needed.

Execute cardiopulmonary resuscitation following BLS and ACLS guidelines.

Maintain and monitor mechanical ventilation on various devices.

Record all pertinent information on respiratory care records and patient charts.

Communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency.

Ensure accurate respiratory therapy charging and data management.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Valid Respiratory Therapy license.

Experience in diverse ventilatory and respiratory equipment management.

Knowledge of respiratory care procedures and protocols.
